Non-Ambient door codes

Door codes on unit locks should be set using the Ambient platform to ensure proper monitoring and use.

Sometimes, door codes can be set on the lock prior to connecting to the Ambient platform resulting in a Non-Ambient door code. In this case:

  • Community staff will be notified via email of Non-Ambient door code use on vacant units
  • Community staff can see if Non-Ambient door codes are used on occupied units in the unit Activity Feed
  • Residents will be notified of Non-Ambient door code use for their unit and be instructed to contact property staff to remove it

Removing Non-Ambient door codes

  1. In the Manager Dashboard, locate the unit where the Non-Ambient door code was used
  2. Under "Activity History" find the correct activity log. The "Remove Code" text will open the workflow to remove the code.
  3. Successful removal of the Non-Ambient door code will result in a success message and will be logged in the "Activity History"
  4. The resident will receive an email notification of the successful removal of the Non-Ambient door code

If Ambient is unable to remove the code, an error message will be displayed. Failure to remove is likely due to a connectivity issue, check the connection status of the lock or please contact Ambient support if the issue persists.
