Access control integration with ProdataKey (PDK)

Keys, physical cards, and fobs used for units and common area and amenity doors are time consuming for your staff and inconvenient for residents. Ambient’s integration with ProdataKey (PDK) frees your staff from having to issue and track physical keys and fobs and enables your residents to instead use the Ambient Home app.

Connect PDK to Ambient and link devices

Ask Ambient to enable PDK integration for your property and link the PDK doors to Ambient common areas and amenities. Your Ambient Solution Engineer can assist you with this step.

User Account Publishing to PDK 

When a PDK System is connected with Ambient, anytime a new Resident or Staff user is added to Ambient, they are immediately synced to PDK. In addition, all users are re-published to PDK every 24 hours, just to ensure all user data is in sync. 

The status of the user publishing is shown in the PDK settings panel on the "Access Control Integration" settings page. 

Sync Errors 

When a user cannot sync, the system displays a "cannot sync" banner on the settings page with a link to troubleshooting resources, as well as alerts on the home page and the user detail page. A user's sync will fail if the email address that was added to Ambient is an invalid email. To resolve this issue, the email address in Ambient will need to be updated to a valid email address. 

PDK accounts for tours, visitor passes, and Ambient administrators

In addition to resident and staff accounts, Ambient's integration also automatically creates two "special" user accounts to support Ambient features like Tours. These special user accounts are assigned to a group named "Ambient System Access".

To avoid rule conflicts between Ambient and PDK, the above users should be given 24/7 access to all PDK doors.
