Recovery code expiration rollout

In the past, staff recovery codes have not expired at all communities, posing a security risk if written down or provided to residents. As of June 15, 2026, recovery codes will expire 30 minutes after they are viewed in Ambient Manager.

Ambient's Customer Success team is contacting staff at all affected communities to coordinate the transition. If you are already confident that none of your residents are using staff recovery codes to access their homes, let us know and we will enable recovery code expiration immediately.

Recovery codes are 6-digit door codes that should only be used by staff when a hub or lock is offline and unable to be reached by Ambient.

As a reminder, do not give out recovery codes to residents. Please direct them to set up a personalized door code via the Ambient Home app. You can find step-by-step instructions to share with them in this support article.
